Last week we posted a blog explaining the benefits of starting a blog for your Non-profit. This week, we are going to give you 5 engaging blog post ideas.
So, if you want ideas on where to start, or you’ve hit writer’s block, this week’s blog is for you!

What inspired you to make a change?

A great way to engage your audience from the very start is to tell your story. A Blog explaining what inspired you to start/join your Non-profit is an excellent blog post to begin your journey and will create a good foundation for you to build on.

Using photos or even a video to break up paragraphs will give your user a break from reading long paragraphs and can help reduce the bounce rates on your page.

Introduce your staff

A great way to build a relationship with your blog readers is by introducing your staff on your blog! Doing so will humanising your Non-profit and make your user feel more connected to your mission. If you’re unsure where to start, why not compile a list of questions to ask them and turn it into a casual interview style piece? You can ask them about what drives them whilst working for your Non-profit, and to make it more fun, you can ask them interesting facts about themselves, hobbies that they do in their spare time and favourite food.

Behind the Scenes

If you have just finished a fundraising campaign or just about to start, why not document the ‘behind the scenes process? Taking pictures and videos during the preparation of an extensive campaign or fundraiser will show all of the hard work that your Non-profit puts into a cause. Documenting this process will make great content for your Non-profits blog and give you more content to post onto your Non-profit’s social media. It’s also great and fun to look back on!

Write about your Volunteers

Why not build and base some content on your volunteers? As mentioned in tip number two, you can choose one volunteer a month to post a blog on. You can ask them questions, including ‘why did you choose to volunteer for our Non-profit?’ and ‘what have you enjoyed most about working with us?’. Their answers to these questions will help other potential volunteers understand the type of work they will be doing should they choose to volunteer their time.

Collaborate with Other Bloggers

Collaborating with others is an excellent booster for your Non-profit. You can do this by guest blogging on someone else’s website or having someone to guest blog on yours. Not only does this save you some extra time when planning and creating content, but this is also a great way to drive more traffic to your Non-profit’s site along with a new audience!

Some places you can guest blog for include DonorboxNon-Profit Tech For Good and Bloomberg.
